Father's Day is a day of honoring fatherhood and paternal bonds, as well as the influence of fathers in our society. It is celebrated worldwide to recognize the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of their children. This day is the perfect time of year to celebrate the loving and caring men in your life. Although it is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, most of the countries observe this day on the third Sunday in June.

A Short History

Father’s Day was first celebrated in the Spokane YMCA on June 19, 1910, by Sonora Smart Dodd (According to Wikipedia). When Sonora was 16, her mother died during childbirth with her sixth child. Sonora was the only daughter and shared with her father William in the raising of her younger brothers, including her new infant brother Marshall.

Her father William Jackson Smart was the civil war veteran, who was a single parent that raised his six children alone. (Clap Clap)

Thanks to the loving daughter Sonora Smart Dodd we have a day to acknowledge the important role played by the father.

My Special Note

This is a tribute to all fathers around the world, wishing all fathers a Happy Father’s Day. To all fathers, may you have the most wonderful time with your family!

Everyone knows that today is Father's Day in the U.S., the perfect time to honor every Dad who shows up for his children. I know it's not an easy thing to be the best father you can be. But I appreciate that you're making a huge difference in your kid's life - now, and every day of your child's future.

Special gratitude to my husband Terrance, every hug you give, every joke you share, every time you take a deep breath and see things from our child's perspective, every moment that you listen patiently, every time you role model for our child & how to show up with integrity, you're shaping our children into a person who will make us proud. Happy Father's Day to the man of my heart, the father of our children, the love of my life. Hey wonderful man, We celebrate you!

Final words

So if you're a Dad, please accept my deepest gratitude.  Whatever else you may accomplish in your life, in my opinion, it pales compared to your role as a father. May you have the most wonderful time!
